Greetings once again.
What a month it has been for English sport! Football, rugby, cricket, Formula One – such a rollercoaster of emotions. Our rugby team (matched at 280 during the tournament) shocked all but the true believers by reaching the final, and put up a valiant effort only to be beaten by the deserving Springboks. After leading 1-0 in Russia, Steve McClaren’s men are now on the verge of missing Euro 2008. It’s unthinkable that all of the teams from the British Isles could miss out! Lewis Hamilton appeared to have one hand on the F1 Drivers’ Championship and then it all went pear-shaped for him as well. At least our cricketers did us proud in Sri Lanka, winning their first one-day series there since I wore short pants.
So after all that, you might believe that the sporting calendar is winding down, but alas, you’d be wrong, and we’ve got a bumper edition of InPlay for you this month. Our feature is on the Breeders’ Cup – the two-day race meeting to be held at Monmouth Park, New Jersey this weekend. We’ve brought in our US racing experts to assess the form from both sides of the Atlantic.
US sports have been hitting London in recent weeks with ice hockey, basketball and now the NFL playing games in the capital. Wembley will be packed to capacity on Sunday for the Giants vs the Dolphins. Apart from being a great spectacle, American football is an amazing sport to bet on in-play and the scoring system lends itself to some amazing price swings. For trading tips, take a look at this guide from our new editorial site http://betting.betfair.com.
In other news, if you’re one of the many punters who have been crying out for racing accumulators, then take a look at our new Product of the Month section. It’s just one of an exciting list of creations from our development team to further your betting experience.
And last but not least, a few people have been asking us to explain Asian Handicap betting on football. It sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is so we’ve drawn up the ultimate guide to the most popular form of betting in the football-mad Far East.
Until next month, happy punting!
